Mar Gil Álvarez

Mar Gil Álvarez is working on a project which explores the association between feelings of mattering (experiencing that one is important and significant in the world) and depressive symptomatology in older adults.

She holds a MSc in Social and Cultural Anthropology from KU Leuven and a BA in Psychology from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She has also been a student of the MSc in Psychology Theory and Research, at KU Leuven. During her studies, Mar has gained expertise in new spiritualities, science and technology studies (STS), and in existential and developmental psychology.
Before starting her current position, Mar worked as researcher in two different research settings. First, she was employed by the consultancy firm Kantar Public in Brussels, where she served as a desk researcher supporting various projects. Later, she spent a year working in the field of palliative care at the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies, KU Leuven.
